I quit my job
Well I quit my job and I'm busier than ever.
Welcome to 2005.
To talk about all the things I'm doing, I'm starting a blog at colinshevlin.blog complete with an RSS feed and html pages. Old ways are sometimes the best ways.
I like the simplicity, and I also like that there's no following or subscriptions or paywalls in the way. On Substack there are so may ways to interact that I'm not sure what I'm doing half the time. And I like websites that aren't owned by a tech company! I hereby vow that colinshevlin.blog will never raise any VC money.
You may be reading this on Substack, and that's cool. I'm going to duplicate posts from colinshevlin.blog onto Substack so that people can do whatever they want. I just think having an html blog is neat.
What you'll find here
I'm in the middle of reconfiguring my life. I quit my software job in hopes of doing more work that aligns with things I care about: work around bikes, immigration, and the climate.
One result of that reconfiguration is I have a little time to travel. Next week I'll be in Northern Minnesota doing the Straddle and Paddle route from bikepacking.com with my girlfriend Hailey.
Then in October I'll be in Japan with Steven and Glenn making our way from Tokyo to Shikoku and maybe beyond. We've put together some truly elite routes and I can't wait to share them.
In other words, bikepacking content incoming.
